ivyfic: (hewlett wtf)
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the best cover in the history of ever.

As background, this is the cover to the book Buck Fever by Ben Rehder. It's the first in a series of wacky mysteries set in rural Texas -- reviewers often compare Rehder to Carl Hiassen. The American cover to this book shows a stag driving a convertible with a hunter tied to the back. Cute, no?

This is the cover of the Japanese edition )

This proves without a doubt that I do not understand Japanese culture at all. I think I'll keep a picture of this around so that the next time an author complains about the cover of their book I can tell them that it could be worse and show them this.

"His bowels gripped his stomach wall."

Um...I don't even know what that means, but it doesn't sound pleasant.
ivyfic: (plot holes)
Dear Literary Agent,

If I can spot a gaping plot hole in the synopsis in your cover letter, I'm probably not going to sign the book.

Much obliged,
